THE CONSTRUCTIVISTS ANNOUNCE CASTING FOR
SAM SHEPARD'S POST-9/11 DARK COMEDY "THE GOD OF HELL"

June 18, 2019 – (Milwaukee) The Constructivists are excited to announce casting for their fall production of Sam Shepard's rarely produced post-9/11 dark comedy, THE GOD OF HELL.

Emma and Frank live a quiet life with their cows in the heart of Wisconsin. They don’t expect anything exciting to come from taking in their friend Haynes, but when a mysterious stranger comes looking for him, this slice of American heartland is turned into a place of paranoia and fear. A rarely staged dark comedy, Mr. Shepard’s play written in response to our government’s reaction to 9/11 is now more timely than ever.

"We're not out to make anyone comfortable," says Jaimelyn Gray, Artistic Director of The Constructivists, and director of The God of Hell. "Mr. Shepard's dark, funny, and frankly terrifying piece is not all shy about our government and the slippery slope. But to that point, I think the time for shyness has long since passed. And with Presidential politics already kicking into high gear, it's never too early to make people think about their choices."

The production will feature beloved Milwaukee Theatre veterans Robert W.C. Kennedy as Frank, Cheryl Roloff as Emma, and Matthew Huebsch as Welch and returning Constructivists Guest Artist Matthew Scales (To Fall in Love) as Haynes. Directed by Jaimelyn Gray, the Creative Team also currently includes Constructivists Company Members Sarah Harris (Set and Costume Design), and Les Zarzecki (Technical Direction and Set Construction), Constructivists Associate Artist Laura Sturm (Voice and Movement), and Alexis Furseth (PR & Marketing). Full Creatives information will be released as it becomes available.
