ABOUT THE PLAY
IN THE CANYON is a dark dramedy with a gripping narrative that explores the profound impacts of societal change. Under the direction of Jaimelyn Gray, this play will captivate audiences with its intense storytelling that explores the lives of its characters over several decades, from 2007 to 2067, as they navigate personal and societal upheavals. The play is a poignant reflection on resilience, community, and the ever-changing landscape of America.
Performance Dates: October 12-26, 2024, Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 4pm. Talkbacks Thursday evenings.
Rehearsal Dates: Rehearsals begin on or around Monday, August 26, 2024. Schedule is Monday-Thursday Evening, 7-10pm, Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm and 1-4pm. As this is a vignette ensemble piece, you will not be called all days at all times. Tech week begins Monday, October 7th. There are no 10/12s, but you will be called from 5-11pm the week of October 7th, and will be released when you are no longer needed.
Location: Rehearsal location TBD. Performances are at the Broadway Theatre Center, Studio Theater, 158 N. Broadway, Milwaukee

We are casting 8 diverse actors (5 women, 3 men) to play multiple roles. Actors should be versatile and able to portray various backgrounds throughout the play's timeline from 2007 to 2067.

Notes:
The stipend for our productions is $200. Yes, we know this is crap, but as Wisconsin ranks 49th in state funding for the arts, obtaining public funds is an incredible challenge for a small storefront company. We hope the experience of working with us is an added benefit to the stipend. But we understand if this prevents you from working with us. For the record, all the positions within the company, including the Artistic Director, are unpaid.
